Cheap Airline Tickets To El Salvador | Flights To San Salvador
Cheap Airline Tickets To San Salvador, El Salvador
Air travelers searching for cheap flights to El Salvador are in for a pleasant surprise. The hub for TACA airlines is located in San Salvador, El Salvador. TACA Airlines is headquartered in San Salvador. This is their major travel hub. All air flights bound for South America fly into El Salvador first. What this means to you as a traveler is that this city is particularly competitive. The other airlines like Delta, United and American are competitive with their pricing.
Travel Search Engines - Searches for Cheap Flights
Travelocity, LowFares.com and other travel search aggregators often advertise cheap flights to El Salvador from many US Cities. For Spring 2011, I have been seeing more ads for cheap flights to Latin American destinations than usual. If you do a search with one of these search engines, the airport code for San Salvador is SAL.
Travelocity have a useful feature for searching for the cheapest flights. You can select an option to search for dates plus or minus three days from your desired travel date. Travelocity will then search for the best fares three days on either side of your travel date. This makes the searching much faster. One note, this feature isn't available on all destinations. It is for travel within the US, but isn't available on many International destinations. It is available for the airport SAL.

Flights From Canada to San Salvador, El Salvador
TACA fly out of one Canadian city – Toronto, Canada. Again, the fact that TACA route all of their Latin American destinations through their hub in El Salvador, finding a departure city where TACA operate will yield you the best air ticket prices due to the competition their hub offers. So if you live in Canada, the cheapest flights are from Toronto to El Salvador.
Interestingly, Vancouver Canada on the West Coast of Canada, the third largest Canadian city with a population of 2.1 million people, does not have good flight service to Central America. For years, I have been expecting new travel routes out of Vancouver for many Latin American destinations, but they just haven't come along. Cheap Flights Vancouver to El Salvador It seems the airline industry is only serving Vancouver to Mexico as far as Latin American destinations.
I have been hearing rumors of Westjet serving Costa Rica as a destination, for over a year now, but it appears that when they finally do add the destination to their flight route, it will be out of Toronto. I believe that by not servicing Vancouver with direct flights to Central America, the airlines are missing a large market that is hungry for better Central American flight destinations.
Direct Flights From Canada
It is possible to fly direct from Toronto, Canada to El Salvador. The flight is with the TACA partner, LACSA Airlines. It departs YYZ and is direct to SAL. Of course, flight schedules are subject to change, but the flight (Flight #0621) is a great schedule with the departure time from YYZ of 9:45 AM and an arrival time in SAL of 2:00 PM.
Direct Flights to El Salvador
If you choose US airline hubs as your departure point you will have more direct flights to choose from, not to mention a better likelihood of getting a great price too. For example, the hub city for Delta Airlines is Atlanta, Georgia. They are the only airline flying out of Atlanta with direct flights to San Salvador and their pricing is usually the best from Atlanta too. For travel up to April 3, 2011 the round-trip price of a direct flight to SAL from ATL was $502 on Travelocity.
I have found the cheapest place to fly from the US to San Salvador is from Texas. It is easy to get round-trip tickets for $300 and often there will be a sale with a lower price. I don't know how they can fly so cheap. Don't ask when you find one of these discount flights available for your departure date, just book the ticket and thank the cut-throat nature of the business.
If you are flying from Los Angeles, you will have no problem finding direct flights to El Salvador. The flight is easy too, with a flight time from LAX to SAL of exactly 5 hours.
